CAS: 4016-21-1
EINECS: 223-673-4
Molecular Formula & Molecular Weight
Molecular Formula: C13H25NaO5S; C13H26O5S.Na
Molecular Weight: 316.39
Structure
Properties
Appearance (1), white to yellow liquid or paste; (2), white to yellow powder or flaky solid.
Solubility soluble in water.
Stability stable in weak acid, weak alkali, hard water. Under strong acid or strong alkali, easily hydrolyze.
Risk Liquid form: irritation, low irritation to skin, eye.
GHS label:
Ecology may be hazardous to environment. Water body should be given special attention.
Biodegradability biodegradable.
Characteristics excellent cleansing, foaming, emulsifying, dispersing, wetting, solubilizing, permeating abilities. Mild. Good lime soap dispersing power. Foaming, cleansing capacities are higher than sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate in hard water. In laundry detergent, the third representative surface active agent is used instead of alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS). Suitable for neutral formula system.
Ingredients description (1), Disodium 2-sulfolauric acid should be strictly controlled in order to avoid affecting product quality.
Note (1), Be careful to use in children washing products, such as shampoo, bath liquid and so on.
Synthesis
In film reactor (for example: falling film reactor), methyl laurate reacts with sulphur trioxide, then age, bleach, neutralize, finally obtain.
