Properties

Appearance    (1), red brown transparent oily liquid; (2), solid.

Odor    characteristic odor.

Solubility    soluble in water. 5% aqueous solution: transparent.

Stability    stable in weak alkali, weak acid and hard water; unstable in strong acid, strong alkali, easily hydrolyzed.

Synthesis

(1), Butyl oleate is obtained by esterification of oleic acid and butanol;

(2), Butyl oleate, sulfated is obtained by esterification of butyl oleate and concentrated sulfuric acid;

(3), Butyl oleate, sulfated, sodium salt is obtained by neutralization, ethanol extraction, de-ethanol process.
