[Terminology] Reversed micelle

In non-aqueous solvent, the aggregate formed by the aggregation of solute monomer is Reversed Micelle. The formation of reversed micelle mainly depends on the interaction of hydrogen bond, and the interaction of dipole.

 

In non-polar solvent, reversed micelle formed by hydrocarbon surfactant has the following characteristics:

(1), The aggregation number of reversed micelle is relatively small;

(2), Reversed micelle core constituted by polar group, and is hydrophilic structural zone; outer layer of reversed micelle constituted by non-polar group, and is hydrophobic structure zone.

 

Reversed micelle extraction is a typical application of reversed micelle.
